Updates for 2010
Please read the section entitled "About the NIJGA" first for a complete overview of the association. The following information is intended for those who have participated in the past.
The membership fee is now all-inclusive except for the awards dinner. Junior, Major, and Varsity Tour member fee of $100 will now include a NIJGA personalized bag tag, and entry in up to six Junior, Major, or Varsity events. The awards dinner is no longer included in the membership fee.
Player of the year was revised in 2006, and will continue to award extra points for the low scoring average. Please refer to the player of the year tab.
Registration for 2010 will be prioritized based on the year the junior became a member. The "Member Since" is posted under the same name under the main menu of the homepage. The following outlines registration priority:
| Member Since | Begin Registering |
|---|---|
| 2006 or prior | Monday, March 8 at 6:00 PM |
| 2007 – 200 | Thursday, March 11 at 6:00 PM |
| New | Monday, March 15 at 6:00 PM |
All members in their first year will be required to attend a mandatory orientation prior to participating. The Porter County sessions will be held at Chesterton High School. The CHS orientations will take place in the Large Group Instruction Area, which is on the second floor. Please enter at Entrance Number 1 and follow the signs. Each year we have disappointed kids who are not able to participate in the tournaments because they were not able to attend the orientation, please make plans well in advance.
In the eight years of the association's existence, we have been lucky with the weather. However, in the event of a weather related situation causing the cancellation of an event, the following guidelines have been established. First of all, every effort will be made to delay and get the event in. Depending on the willingness of the facility, this could mean a lengthy rain delay. The next step will be to score the event based on the first nine holes played for the eighteen hole divisions. If that is not possible, then the event will be cancelled. If the cancellation has Player of the Year implications, the tournament committee will decide a course of action for the individual involved. Weather condition procedures including lightning will be presented at the mandatory orientation, but as a reminder, if a player is ever uncomfortable or feels like they may be in danger, they are encouraged to seek shelter immediately without penalty.
